Gourds and Ghouls: Your Guide to a Howling-Good Halloween

Denver and Boulder Halloween Events 2021 - PorchLight Real Estate Group

It's time to get your spooky on! Across the Denver metro and Boulder County areas, there are a ton of Halloween events for kids and adults alike.

Find the perfect pumpkin for carving, scream your face off in the middle of an Erie (aptly named) cornfield, or sip jack-o-lantern bucket cocktails while dancing the night away at a silent disco in McGregor Square.

Below, we’ve highlighted a few of our favorite frights (and some not-so-ghoulish stuff, too). Just remember that dates, times and details are subject to change. Please check the websites before your visit. For a complete list of Halloween happenings, click here for a PDF that you can print and save!

Cottonwood Farms Pumpkin Patch & Fall Festival

Located in Boulder and just north of Lafayette, this is a working family farm selling pumpkins and fabulous fall produce. You can stop and buy pumpkins, organic winter squash, and decorative fall items to dress up your home for Halloween and the upcoming holiday season.

If you’re looking for family fun, try the four-acre corn maze or straw bale maze for the little ones. Wagon rides are available on the weekend, and there will be a display of vintage tractors and farm equipment. There are numerous goats, chickens and bunnies to view, but the decision to come forward for pets will be entirely up to them.

McGregor Scare

A recent addition to Denver's LoDo neighborhood, McGregor Square is an outdoor plaza, pre and post-game gathering place for Rockies fans, plus a year-round destination for concerts, festivals, and events.

For Halloween, prepare to scare at the 2nd annual McGregor Scare Silent Disco! This year's disco will be even bigger and scarier than before with jack-o-lantern bucket cocktails, a boomerang booth, games and prizes, food stalls and more.

Glow at the Gardens

The Denver Botanic Garden's York Street location offers a luminous, nighttime celebration of America's favorite gourd. Wander through a spooky, illuminated landscape as the Gardens dresses up for Halloween.

Using all real pumpkins harvested from local farms, pumpkin artists push the boundaries of traditional pumpkin carving to create larger-than-life sculptures and dense displays of jack-o’-lanterns, with grins and grimaces fit for the season.

Performing artists bring spirits and specters to life at this enchanted autumnal experience. While this event is not very scary and doesn’t include graphic content, spooky illusions, props and sound effects are featured in certain areas.

Terror in the Corn

Head to Erie, Colorado for Terror in the Corn and 10 acres of nightmare fuel. Offering an immersive experience into a world of the unknown, you’ll travel by enclosed trailer only to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but cornfields filled with your darkest fears.

You’ll then make your way to the abandoned town of Raven's Gulch where you will make your way through its abandoned buildings and darkened streets to face the nightmares that greet you at every turn. Watch the video below for a heart-pumping preview of what to expect.
