Here are a few ways to make the most of your trip to a Colorado farmers market near you:
- Arrive early. While sleeping in on the weekend is great self-care, heading out to a farmers market when it opens ensures you'll get first pick of the best stuff and won't miss out on items that typically sell out.
- Walk the market first. Don't get caught up in spending all your cash at the first booth you see. Take a lap, check prices, see what's available, and let the veggies speak to you. Then circle back to make purchases.
- Shop what's in season if you want to enjoy fruits and vegetables at their peak of ripeness. Ask vendors what they recommend or plan your weekly menu and market trips using our handy chart.
- Chat with a farmer or vendor. Learn more about what they grow and how they grow it. And if you come across a fruit or veggie variety you're not familiar with, just ask for more info! Many vendors are happy to share their insights and even provide a sample.
